What is GRACE Scholars?

In 2008, the State of Georgia passed the Private School Education Tax Credit allowing up to $50 million annually of tax money to be used for private pre-K to 12th-grade education.  Georgia taxpayers can redirect part of their tax liability to provide scholarships to incoming students at SJS.  The Diocese of Savannah, in partnership with the Archdiocese of Atlanta, is participating in this program through GRACE Scholars.

Am I eligible for a "tax credit"?

Any Georgia taxpayer can redirect a portion of their tax dollars.  In addition to the State of Georgia tax credit; this amount also qualifies as a charitable contribution on your Federal tax return.

Married, filing jointly up to the lesser of $2,500 (filing separately $1250)

Individuals or Head of Household up to the lesser of 1,000.

“C” Corporations can take a credit equal to 75% of their taxable income)

Pass through entities (S corp, LLCs, partnerships) lesser of tax liability or $10,000.

The wonderful part of GRACE is you have a say in how your tax dollars are spent.  All at little or no economic impact on your family since these are tax dollars you would have to pay anyway.

How do I contribute?

The easiest way to contribute is to  complete the form online.  Your registration is submitted to the Department of Revenue for approval.  Upon approval, the DOR will send you a confirmation letter with details on payment.  You can also download a paper form from GRACE.  Print out, complete, sign, and return the form to:
